In this set of three pre-recorded sessions, Mike will walk you through a number of mixed media project ideas. He will discuss media and substrates, tools and methods, composition and techniques for creating interesting and successful mixed media assignments. Stencils, transfers, resists, layering and collage are some of the techniques we will cover along with ideas for assignments that will engage your learners. These video sessions are created for a 'work-along' approach. Mike will set up the assignment and outline the process then he will show you how to demonstrate it for students. You can pause the video and work through the process so that you are confident in presenting these methods to students. Mike uses these mixed media assignments as one of the three major projects for Art 20 (3 credit) but you can adapt these ideas and techniques for students as young as about Grade 5 or use any one of them as a stand-alone Art project.
