Fraction and Decimal Math Games for 4-6

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Most adults will admit that they're "not very good at fractions" so we know what hasn't worked in the past. Time to rethink how we teach fractions (and decimals) so that it's easy for teachers and understandable for students. Participants will learn and play a variety of hands-on math games that help students understand and master fraction equivalency, decimal equivalency and, simple operations involving fractions or decimals. Simple but powerful strategies and games that teachers can immediately use back in their classrooms that provide opportunities for sustained, engaged practice will be presented along with samples of student work. Many of the games and strategies use common cards and dice which are found readily in most schools and homes. A handout with instructions and variations, gameboards and skills checklists for student assessment will be provided.
